Hmmm...I think you can probably guess what I am - definitely Group 3. You meet me in the office on a Tuesday, and you're getting the same Steve as the one you might meet in Adams Morgan on Friday night. That said, my Facebook community primarily consists of friends and they all call me a huge nerd for all my Government 2.0 talk. On the other hand, my Twitter community is all work-related, and they love my Government 2.0 stuff!

I think this is all just an evolution - sooner or later, this intertwined work/personal life will just become the norm, especially as we all become more and more connected and we continue to demand work flexibility, both in what we do and where we do it.

Thank you for this post. I'm in IT and I try to make an effort not to talk all that "geek speak" to clients. Many techies subconsciously get gratification on talking over peoples heads. It gives them the illusion that they are smarter or superior to non-technical people which is nonsense, it is simply your profession and that's it. Similar to a lawyer speaking "legalese", my fellow IT people are just blabbing "computerese". Technology is only about the people who are served and entertained by it.

Thanks again,
Marcus

Chris - I've become a big believer in using del.icio.us bookmarks, especially since I've been bouncing back and forth from my client computer to my home computer to my work computer. You'll love using them, and others you work with will appreciate your use of them too! I even got Jamie using del.icio.us, and she typically ignores all of my social media evangelizing!

BTW - just noticed that Wordpress is suggesting that a blog post titled "Kelly Clarkson Gets What She Wants" is possibly related to this post. Maybe she just found the utility in del.icio.us bookmarks too!
